Why are many of us so stressed out? Someone has described her/his day like this “In the morning I don’t feel like waking up, in the day I’m bored, in the evening I’m tired, and in the night I can’t go to sleep”. And the days can pass by so fast that one day we look back, we find it difficult to recall what we have experienced in the past year that made you feel fantastic.

Let’s take a moment and think of the most memorable moments in your life, one could easily refer to graduation day, wedding day, or the day your baby was born. How about many other days of the years? Our pace of life is sometimes so fast that draws us in and don’t leave us enough space and time to think, to reflect or even..to feel. We know that we all are deserved and meant to live an inspired life that rises above mere existence. And how can we do that?

First, heal the body.

One can’t function well in various aspects of life without a healthy body. When the body is stiff, the digestive system does not work property, the breath is short and shallow, it’s hard to provide us enough energy or the focus needed to do other type of works. Work on controlling the body instead of letting it control you.

Second, calm the mind.

Only when the mind is still and calm can we start to think clearly, focus better and allow you to make decision based on your wisdom rather out of insecurity, fear or desire.

Third, heal your heart.

This is the most difficult of all. The more your heart is open, filled with joy and gratitude, the more you are able to start looking inwards, less being affected by the external world, and probably…start spreading the love and positive energy to others.

And YOGA is probably one of the most proven effective ways to work on the body, the mind and the soul. Yoga means “the cessation of the fluctuation of the mind”. Our mind is known as “monkey mind”, thoughts are constantly existing and moving in our minds, we try it difficult to stay in the present moment, to keep the mind away from thinking about the past or planning, strategizing, and organizing the future.

While yoga’s goal is not only physical, practicing yoga postures does provide powerful benefits to the body. The senses of ease, peace and well-being from practicing yoga poses result from a harmonization, revitalization of all the various systems in the body – the nervous system, the musculoskeletal system, the healthy circulation of blood, oxygen and energy. One the body is well taken care of, you will start to be more mindful of what you eat, what you think, how you react and how you feel.

Starting something new is usually fun, but keeping it up and making a commitment to keep a consistent practice sometimes take efforts and self-discipline. It’s not easy but it’s possible, all you need to do is just to be patient, be open to try with no attachment, knowing that it will do you good in the end. So…roll out the mat and start your practice 🙂
