b’AIR – The travel mat: b’Air is created as super light yoga mat for travelers. It is only 1.5mm thick. With its foldability and unique design, b’Air is the perfect choice for you on the go. Made from biodegradable and sustainably-harvested natural rubber, this environment-friendly yoga mat is a greener choice for our planet.
b’EARTH – The true mat: b’EARTH mat is also made with 100% natural rubber, providing you with an incredible grip, a solid density for a true practice. It is 4mm thick, giving you a enough cushion for knees, wrists, and balancing poses. Similar to b’AIR yoga mat, b’EARTH mat is made from biodegradable and sustainably-harvested natural rubber.
b’EARTH X – The true mat. For Taller Yogis: this mat is a longer version of b’EARTH yoga mat. Made of 100% natural rubber with one solid layer, b’EARTH X is created to give you more space to practice on.
b’ROCK – The studio mat: Inspired by rock’s unfadable quality, Beinks created b’Rock yoga mat to be durable, easy to clean and high quality – a perfect choice for yoga studios. It is our thickest yoga mats – 6mm.
I'm stilled confused. Do you have some kind of yoga mat quiz?
Oh yes, we do. You can take our yoga mat quiz here, before making decision.
What is the difference between b'EARTH and b'EARTH X ?
- Similarities: both are made of biodegradable natural rubber which provide excellent grips.
|* Have 2 different layers (top and bottom). Top layer is made of special strong rubber material, which provides better durability. Bottom layer is a bit softer, providing more cushion and support for knees, wrists, joints|
* 2-color / 2-tone design, and reversible to give you more options to practice on
|* Only 1 solid layer|
* “X” stands for “extra long” . It is 10cm longer than b’EARTH (182cm vs 172cm)
What should I do to take a good care of my mat?
A good care is essential to make our mats last longer. Here are some tips:
- wipe the mat with a damp cloth (just warm water)
- for a deeper clean, wipe it with a 1:5 solution of white vinegar & water
- hang it or lay it flat to dry
- Never use alcohol to wash it – it might cause the surface to break or dry
- Essential oils should be avoided as it might make the surface become slippery
- Do not use paper towels to clean as the paper will get disintegrated and stuck on the mat
- Avoid direct sunlight as excessive sunlight will damage the surface
Follow our care instructions here for use & care for each type of our Beinks mats.
Is there a "break-in" period for Beinks mats?
Usually no “break-in” period for b’AIR and b’EARTH. You should feel the high level of grip at the first practice. However, it is true that our mats perform their best after a few weeks of regular practice.
It is quite rare but in case you find the mat a bit slippery for the first couple of weeks, don’t worry so much. You can improve the grip by wiping the mat often with just warm water and lay it flat or hang it up in an open air area. The more you practice with the mat, the grippier it becomes.
For b’ROCK mat, yes there is a “break-in” period. It can last for a few weeks to a few months, depending on the frequencies of practice and other factors like humidity, heat. The b’ROCK mat is recommended for studio use as it is super-durable and easy to maintain and clean.
Is your mat Latex-free? I'm kind of allergic to Latex.
Both of the materials of nature rubber and latex are extracted from rubber tree resin, but their ways of refining are different. Latex is refined as latex directly, and then produce the products. Natural rubber makes latex into the process of refining, sheeting, smudging, hardening, and vulcanizing.
The reason that people are allergic to natural rubber and latex is the natural protein in resin. Some people are allergic to some food, flowers, and fruits because of the natural protein as well. While natural rubber materials are in high temperature process of refining, smudging and hardening, natural protein almost can’t exist in such condition.
Besides, in the process of making Yoga mats, high temperature vulcanizing process is needed, and most of natural protein will be destroyed at this time, and maybe some will survive, but it is quite few.
We suggest that those who are allergic easily or seriously test in small part of body first to make sure no allergy before using the products.
My mat has a distinctive smell. What is that?
You are right. Our b’AIR and b’EARTH mats are made from REAL NATURAL rubber. So the odour that you notice is the natural smell of rubber, which means your mat is authentic. To ease the smell, we would suggest you wipe the mat often with warm water and hang it up or lay it flat. The smell should fade away and disappear after a few weeks.
I sweat a lot when practicing yoga. Are your mats suitable for me?
Yes, b’EARTH and b’AIR yoga mats will be perfect for sweaty yogis. These mats are made of natural rubber which is considered the best solution for gripping hands and feet firmly without sliding on the mat. In addition, the cushion is also quite good, not too hard, not too soft, which is great for balancing poses as well.
Where are your mats produced?
Beinks yoga mats are manufactured in Taiwan – one of the countries that is currently the most advanced in yoga mat production, especially natural rubber yoga mats.
Where is your mats' material sourced from? How sustainably is it sourced?
The material for our b’AIR and b’EARTH is sustainably sourced from South East Asia (mainly fron Thailand, Vietnam, Philippines and Indonesia). In normal condition, rubber tree provides resin for 30 years. After that, the rubber trees from these local farms will be cut down for use of wood, and new trees will be planted in original places. It is considered the best way for a sustainable growth of natural resources from agricultural.
On another note, our mats are biodegradable, which means they will decompose naturally after 3 – 5 years in typical landfill conditions. That will help reduce the amount of waste and give more space on our planet.
For b’ROCK mats, they are free from latex and 6P. Everyone might have heard of the terms, but for a better understanding, 6P is a type of toxic chemical called Phthalates. It is a group of chemicals mainly used for softening and increasing flexibility of plastic. It is toxic and it is common in lots of yoga mats and equipments. However, this is not the case with b’ROCK yoga mat, which is free from these toxic chemicals.
Does Beinks guarantee its products or offer a Warranty?
If you experience something not quite right during the 3 months of use, please share with us at firstname.lastname@example.org and we will work it out for you.
Due to the fact that our b’AIR and b’EARTH mats are made with eco-friendly materials, you may experience a little wear and tear after a period of use. The natural rubber material is biodegradable, which means that it will gradually harden in the natural conditions. It usually takes 3 – 5 years for our mat to start to biodegrade in normal environment, or 5 – 7 years if it is well-taken care. The hardening/deteriorating process will speed up if the mats are exposed to excessive sunlight and water.
Are Beinks mats recyclable?
This is a question that we would love to say “Yes”, however, the answer is “No, not for now”. It is considered inefficient (in terms of carbon footprint and cost) to recycle natural rubber yoga mats into a new source of material for other productions. Even though the recycling of rubber care tires has been popular these days, hardly any recycle companies would buy natural rubber yoga mats for recycling purposes (for now).
Having said that, b’AIR, b’EARTH & b’EARTH X yoga mats – made from biodegradable natural rubber – will decompose naturally after 3 – 5 years in typical landfill conditions. Or you can always upcycle, too. There are a number of ways we can suggest to repurpose our yoga mats:
- Use them as non-slip carpet backings.
- Cut yoga mats into squares to use as outdoor seating when you don’t want to get your bottom dirty or to go under furniture to protect floor and stop sliding
- Donate undamaged mats to charities that serve people who will make use of them.
- Make an eco-bulletin board.
- Cut out squares to go under furniture to protect floor and stop sliding.
